Program Schedule: Saturdays
Description
Puentes Hacia el Futuro is Casa San José’s Saturday youth program designed for children ages 7 to 11. The program provides academic support, leadership development, cultural enrichment, and social-emotional learning opportunities. Volunteers will assist program coordinators in leading activities, engaging with students, and supporting a positive and safe learning environment.
Volunteers play a vital role in helping participants grow in areas such as education, culture, nutrition, mental health awareness, sports, leadership, and community engagement.
Skills & Abilities

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with children, staff, and families.

Ability to foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

Patience, empathy, and flexibility in addressing the needs of children ages 7–11.

Creativity in engaging youth through activities, games, and hands-on learning.

Teamwork and collaboration with coordinators and fellow volunteers.

Cultural sensitivity, especially when working with Latino youth and immigrant families.
Select Skills

Experience tutoring, mentoring, or working with children (preferred).

Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are a plus but not required.

Interest or knowledge in areas such as arts, education, leadership, health, or sports.

Ability to model positive behavior and serve as a role model for youth.

Organizational skills to assist with program setup, materials, and clean-up.
Qualifications

Commitment to volunteer at least one Saturday per month (consistency preferred).

Completion of background checks and child protection clearances prior to volunteering.

Passion for youth development and community impact.

Availability during Saturday program hours (approx. 9:30 AM – 5PM).
Previous volunteer or professional experience with youth is a plus.
