Volunteer: Volunteer with our adult ESL program this fall


Casa San Jose’s English As A Second Language (ESL) program is recruiting volunteers excited to work with beginning-level adult English learners during our online fall session, running September 14 through November 19. Our classes meet on Zoom Mondays through Thursdays from 7pm to 8:30pm. 


Our program supports Latino adult learners working to improve their English for daily life, work, and community connection. We are especially looking for volunteers who are:


Comfortable working with Spanish-speaking students who have limited English. (Spanish fluency is a plus)

Available one night a week from 7pm to 8:30pm

Comfortable using Zoom and Google Workspace

Willing to coordinate and communicate with fellow volunteers throughout the session

Familiarity with teaching or prior ESL experience is a plus


We provide:

Zoom accounts for class meetings

Volunteer training

Curriculum, lesson templates, and teaching resources

Ongoing support from program staff

Substitutes for vacations and prior commitments

Volunteer: Back-to-School Event - Day-of Volunteer

Be part of a fun and meaningful community event as we help families kick off the new school year. Day‑of volunteers are needed to assist with event setup and breakdown, as well as to help run various activity and resource stations throughout the day. Roles include supervising the bouncy house, distributing resources to families, and assisting with collecting tickets at different stations. This is a great opportunity to support local students, keep the event running smoothly, and bring some extra energy to a day full of celebration.

Court accompaniment volunteers serve accompany community members to sensitive locations, including courthouses, USCIS offices and ICE field offices. As a court accompaniment volunteer, you will offer emotional support and will team up with other volunteers to ensure the safety of our members.

Volunteer: Creating Resource Referral Handouts

I am looking for a committed volunteer to work with me on creating resource referral handouts to give to clients. We have a template that you can use. With my guidance and help, you will be responsible for putting together a list of resources, such as food pantries, in the area and helping me reach out to them to gauge their interest/ability to be included on our referral list (based on interpreter availability, capacity, etc.).

Los Ángeles monitor churches and other religious spaces, cultural events, and social gatherings where the Latino community comes together. Their role is to help ensure that these spaces remain safe, calm, and welcoming.

Volunteer: Help Translate Materials!

We are looking for volunteers to help us translate educational materials into Spanish and Portuguese. These materials include Know Your Rights presentations and materials, community-facing educational materials, social media graphics, etc. Volunteers should be fluent in Spanish or Portuguese. They should also be proficient in using Google platforms and Canva. This work can be done remotely! This work is vital so that our community is able to have access to a wider variety of resources in languages that they speak. For now, we are focusing on translating our current materials to Portuguese and Spanish; however, we may focus on expanding to other languages in the future.
